One important weight loss diet plan tip for men is to limit alcohol consumption. Men drink alcohol for a variety of reasons with work-related stress being at the top of the list. Alcohol is not all bad. In fact, research suggests that drinking in moderation may actually decrease the risk of coronary heart disease. For men, drinking in moderation is defined as one or two drinks per day. The problem for weight conscious males is that alcoholic beverages have calories but provide little nutrition. A can of light beer has about 100 calories while a regular beer contains 150 calories; this is similar to the calories found in a can of regular soda. Wines tend to be lower in calories but mixed drinks can have a surprisingly high calorie count based on its ingredients. Alcohol affects weight because when men drink there is a tendency to have a few beers not just one or two. This combined with the fact that alcohol influences our food choices and is usually consumed at times when we are very inactive. Some men could probably lose significant amounts of weight by eliminating or drastically cutting back on alcohol. Limiting alcohol intake should be part of any man's healthy weight loss diet plan.

Grilling Your Way to Weight Loss
One thing that many men enjoy is grilling. There is just something about firing up the grill that makes a man feel good. Another very positive aspect of grilling is that it can be a very healthy way to prepare a variety of foods. The best part is you can cook more than just meat on the grill. As a backyard chef, you can use your grill to prepare not only lean meats but also fruit, vegetables, pizza and even tasty desserts. Try some of these scrumptious, healthy foods cooked on the grill.
Fish
Place a fillet on a large sheet of aluminum foil. Add in some fresh herbs, a few lemon slices and even a bit of white wine if you’d like. Fold the aluminum foil to cover the fish and cook until the fish is done.
Venison Similar to other wild game, you can cook venison right on the grill. To decrease the gamey taste, wrap it in foil along with seasoning to taste.
Veggie pizza
For your pizza, use a thin crust and brush olive oil on the bottom to keep it from sticking to the grill. If you’d like, try cooking the oiled crust on a perforated pizza pan initially, then transfer it to the grill. Grill the pizza crust over medium heat for approximately one to two minutes. Remove from the grill and place on cookie sheet grilled side up. Add pizza sauce and grilled vegetables then move the pizza back to the grill for two to three minutes. Sprinkle some low-fat cheese and cook until the cheese melts.
Kabobs
Cut vegetables of your choosing into equal-sized pieces. Place on a skewer with chunks of turkey breast, shrimp or venison. Brush with broth and grill.
Sweet corn Take corn with the husks, remove the silk. Place the ears of corn in aluminum foil with a small amount of your favorite seasoning. Place the corn on the grill for five to10 minutes. Turning often.
Desserts
Angel food cake can be grilled for one to three minutes or until golden brown on both sides. Top this dessert with chilled berries.
Make fruit kabobs. Cook three to four minutes, turning to grill each side.

Weight Loss Supplements Don’t Work
The weight loss supplement business is a billion dollar industry. Many men fall prey to supplement companies by trying the “quick fix” method of weight loss. If there was a supplement out there that safely and effectively enhanced weight loss, it would be the most popular pill in the world. The FDA would have approved it, the news would have reported it and doctors would be prescribing it. However, there is no evidence-based research that any supplement or combination of vitamins and supplements produce weight loss. Companies can claim almost anything and still sell supplements even after people die. As you look on the ingredient label of supplement bottles, you might find it includes compounds like ginseng, caffeine, L-carnitine and chromium picolinate. These compounds have not been proven to cause weight loss.
One new medication that is now being sold over-the-counter is called Alii. It is half the strength of the prescription medicine Orlistat, which has been around for some time. Alli works by decreasing fat absorption by approximately 30 percent. However, even with a low fat diet there are still nasty side effects. Fecal incontinence, oily stools, abdominal pain and fecal urgency are all side effects of this medication. Another effect of this drug is decreased absorption of your fat soluble vitamins. The bottom line: there are no short cuts to weight loss. Eating right and exercising is the only road to long-term weight loss.

Don’t Inhale Your Food
Men have a tendency to eat very rapidly. The problem with eating so quickly is that your stomach hardly has time to signal your brain that you are full. This process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Eating too quickly causes you to consume more calories than your body needs. These calories will eventually be stored as fat. Here are a couple of suggestions to slow your eating pace. Try them during your next meal.
Chew your food at least 20 times with every bite.
Put your fork or spoon down while chewing.
If you are eating foods with your hands, like a sandwich, put the food down between bites.
Intentionally take your time between bites by getting a drink of water.
Another trick men can use to slow their eating rate is to turn off the T.V. or put down the newspaper. After using these techniques, eating slowly will become second nature.
